This, and the following story about McClatchy, were the first features I wrote for the Union -- about a month after I started there. I remember going to a Cordova game and the power of that team impressed me. I asked around who the city’s patsy was, and found out it was McClatchy, so I thought a couple of stories contrasting the two would be a neat thing to do.
